Why is Senior Living Gaining Foothold in India? According to a report by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, there were 103.8 million 60 years old and above in India in 2011. This number is expected to reach 173 million by 2026. It is also projected that people over 60 years of age will account for 25% of the Indian population by 2050. All these figures highlight the fact that there will be considerable growth in the elderly care industry. Prime among this being the demand for senior citizen homes.
